A Comprehensive Process,
from Roofing to Insulation
Unlike simply adding insulation, this type of project requires a complete roof renovation to access the space to be insulated and ensure proper ventilation.
Removal
We remove the existing roof covering (shingles, metal sheeting, or membrane), the underlying plywood or boards, and the existing insulation (wool, Styrofoam, etc.).
Bringing Ventilation up To Code
We double the rafters in the roof trusses to create an air gap of at least 2.5 inches, in accordance with Section 9.19.1.3 of the Construction Code. We then install fibreboard at the base of the ceiling.
Insulation Application
Spray-applied polyurethane is sprayed to a thickness of 6 to 7 inches, ensuring continuous insulation and excellent airtightness.
Closure and Waterproofing
The roof is closed off with half-inch-thick Aspenite sheets. We then fabricate custom aluminum starter strips to compensate for the roof’s pitch, as well as a custom-made ventilated ridge extending 24 inches on each side for optimal ventilation. A high-performance Résisto membrane is then installed over the entire surface.
Finishing and Cleanup
We install the final roofing material (shingles, metal roofing, or low-slope membrane, depending on your choice), followed by a thorough cleanup of the site and disposal of debris.
